OSSOBUCO
Ingredients - 4 Servings
1 jar ( 1 litre ) Don Carbone Tomato Sauce
4 veal shanks ( Beef shanks are a less expensive alternative)
2 celery ribs
2 carrots
2 onions
3 cloves of garlic
4 tablespoons of olive oil
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup of white wine
Instructions
1) Heat oven to 325F
2) Salt and pepper both sides of the shanks
3) In a large frying pan heat 2 tablespoons of oil and brown both side of shanks- set aside
4) Add 2 tablespoons of oil and saute garlic for 1 minute
5) Add celery, carrots and onions , continue to saute for 5 minutes
6) Pour 1/2 jar of Don Carbone tomato sauce and 1/4 cup of wine into a 9"x13" baking dish
7) Place fried shanks into the baking dish over the sauce and wine
8) Top shanks with remaining sauce and vegetables
9) Cover baking pan and heat in oven 2 hours
Serve with either pasta or mushroom risotto
